About the Location
Green Space & Layout
Tucked between Adams and Brookhurst streets in Huntington Beach, Arevalos Park covers 2.58 acres of tranquil green space in the neighborhood.
The park's centerpiece is its generous lawn area where you can spread out a blanket, toss a frisbee, or simply enjoy the open space. This expansive grassy section dominates the landscape, giving you plenty of room to breathe and play.
Playground Fun
Kids between 5-12 years old will enjoy the park's sandbox playground. It's not massive, but it packs in some solid entertainment with three slides, various climbing structures, ladders, a fireman pole, and a swing area featuring two full-sized swings.
While compact, this play area provides enough excitement to keep neighborhood children entertained, especially outside of school hours when the energy level picks up.
Walking Trails
One of our favorite aspects of Arevalos is its location near the Santa Ana River. There's a simple dirt trail running along the embankment that makes for a peaceful walking path away from the hustle of the city.
This trail is fantastic for a casual stroll or a morning jog if you're looking to get some steps in. Bikers also appreciate this quieter alternative to busier paths in the area.
Amenities & Facilities
Arevalos keeps it simple with its amenities - you can find a few benches scattered around and three trash bins within the grounds. Just note that there aren't any restrooms or water fountains available, so plan accordingly.
The park doesn't offer much shade either, so bringing a hat and sunscreen is a good idea during those sunny Southern California days.
Location & Accessibility
You can find Arevalos Park nestled behind The Pegasus School, making it a convenient spot for families with children attending there. If you're driving over, street parking is available along Shalom Drive, but spaces can be limited.
The park sees its busiest traffic right after school lets out, so aim for morning or evening visits if you prefer a quieter experience. The gates are open daily from 5AM to 10PM.
Wildlife Awareness
Keep in mind that the park's proximity to natural areas occasionally brings wildlife visitors, including coyotes. Take appropriate precautions if you're bringing small children or pets along for your park adventure.
