Lakeside Park

A Glimpse into the Past

Located in southwest Jacksonville, Florida, Lakeside Park calls the Lakeside Park subdivision home. This neighborhood has quite the history - it was first mapped out by the Riverside Realty Co. way back in 1907.

What really got things moving was the extension of the streetcar line from downtown Jacksonville in 1908. Imagine hopping on a streetcar to visit this charming spot! The city officially embraced the neighborhood in 1925 when it was annexed.

Two Parks in One

Lakeside isn't just one park - it's actually a duo of green spaces sitting side by side. Park I is the bigger sibling, spanning 0.75 acres in a triangular shape. It's like a natural canopy with its collection of oak trees in various sizes, offering plenty of cool shade on those warm Florida days.

Park II came along later, sometime in the 1950s or early 1960s. Though smaller and oblong-shaped, what it lacks in size it makes up for in character. With fewer trees than its neighbor, the ones that do stand there have a certain picturesque quality about them.

Both sections of Lakeside Park are all about taking it slow. You won't find sports fields or playgrounds here - these are spaces dedicated to unwinding and simply being.
