About the Location
Sports and Recreation
Situated in the heart of Miami Beach, Flamingo Park spans a generous 36 acres of green space that's been bringing the community together since the 1950s. This sprawling park offers a green retreat for sports enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to escape the Miami hustle for a while.
At the center of all the action sits the Flamingo Park Aquatic Center - a modern swimming facility with impressive amenities. The eight-lane lap pool stays at that perfect not-too-cold, not-too-warm temperature year-round (a blessing in Florida's climate). For the little ones, there's a separate water playground with colorful features and shallow water where toddlers can safely play.
You'll come across all the basics covered with locker rooms, showers, and plenty of lounge chairs to kick back on between dips. Serious lap swimmers particularly love this spot, though it's worth noting that if you're not a local resident, you'll need to pay an admission fee.

Athletic Facilities
If land sports are more your thing, Flamingo Park offers plenty of options. Tennis players can take their pick from 17 clay courts kept in tip-top condition. The park features an impressive baseball stadium, handball and racquetball courts, softball field, professionally-turfed football field, soccer field, and outdoor basketball courts where you can often find pickup games in progress.
The running track is a popular feature among regular visitors looking for cardio exercise. For those into bodyweight workouts, you'll spot outdoor exercise equipment and pull-up bars scattered around the grounds - excellent for sneaking in a quick workout while enjoying the Florida sunshine.
Pickleball enthusiasts can rejoice too - the park recently added courts for this increasingly popular sport, rounding out an already impressive lineup of racquet sport options.

Family-Friendly Areas
Families with kids will feel right at home here. The playground areas are thoughtfully designed with different age groups in mind - toddlers aged 2-5 have their own equipment, while the 5-12 crowd gets more challenging structures to conquer.
Parents can breathe easy knowing the playground is both gated and shaded - a rare and wonderful combination. The safety surfaces, swings, climbing walls, and play structures keep the kids entertained, while the enclosed design means your little adventurers can't make a break for it when you're not looking.
When it's time for lunch, the park's spacious grassy areas practically beg for a picnic blanket. Mature trees cast ample shade - a true blessing during those scorching Miami afternoons.
Additional Amenities
Even four-legged family members get their own space at the bark park, with separate off-leash areas for small and large dogs. It's basically a doggy social club where pups can run, play, and make new friends while their humans catch up.
The practical stuff is covered too - clean restrooms are scattered throughout the grounds, alongside water fountains and filtered water bottle filling stations. If you forget to pack snacks, vending machines have got you covered in a pinch.
Winding through pockets of lush tropical landscaping, the walking trails offer a peaceful escape for those looking to clear their head with a quiet stroll. Keep your eyes peeled for squirrels and various birds that call the park home.
Over the years, Flamingo Park has seen its fair share of makeovers, with updates to landscaping, irrigation systems, and walkways keeping everything fresh and functional. Parking is free for up to three hours, though spots fill up quickly during peak times.
Open daily from 8AM to 8:30PM, this green oasis in South Beach is surprisingly accessible despite Miami Beach's urban density. Whether you're a local or just visiting, the park offers a well-maintained outdoor space to spend a few hours.
