Nestled in Chesapeake, Virginia, Deep Creek Park spans a generous 130 acres of what was once farmland. Opened in 2003, the developers thoughtfully preserved many of the original farm's trees during construction, creating a space that honors its agricultural roots.

Sports Facilities

If you're into sports, Deep Creek offers several options. The park features four lighted baseball fields specifically designed for Bronco and Pony league play, alongside four multipurpose fields (two with lighting). All are surfaced with hardy Bermuda turf that holds up impressively well to constant use.

Whether you're part of an organized league or just looking for a casual game, these facilities accommodate all levels of play. The baseball fields deserve special mention - they're often so well-maintained that they remain in excellent condition even after heavy rainfall. Throughout the year, you'll come across youth soccer, football, and T-ball games bringing these fields to life.

Fair warning: parking can get tight during popular game times, so it's worth arriving early if you're attending an event.

Destination Playground

The heart of Deep Creek Park is its thoughtfully designed, fully accessible playground. This "Destination Playground" was created with special needs children in mind, however, kids of all abilities find joy here.

Safety comes first with a rubberized surface underneath swings, climbing structures, and play equipment. Parents appreciate that the entire play area is fenced, adding an extra layer of security for little adventurers.

Trails and Fishing

Looking for a more peaceful experience? The one-mile perimeter trail offers a perfect setting for walking, jogging, or biking. This paved path isn't just contained to the park - it connects to the larger Dismal Swamp Canal Trail for those wanting to extend their journey.

Many regulars use the trail for daily exercise, with some noting that six laps gives you a solid six-mile workout. If you suffer from allergies, you might find this trail particularly friendly - the moderate tree density provides shade without overwhelming those sensitive to pollen.

Dog Area
