About the Location
A Bit of History
Positioned in the Lakeshore area of west Vancouver, Washington, Jack Z. Fazio Park spans a modest 5.2 acres. The park bears the name of Jack Z. Fazio, a local farmer with a generous spirit who donated this land so the community could have a space to gather and enjoy the outdoors.
What You'll Find
One of the first things you'll notice is the paved walking path that creates a complete loop around the park's perimeter. It's excellent for a quick morning jog, an evening stroll, or a bike ride with the kids. As you make your way around, you'll get to take in all the natural scenery the park has to offer.
If you're visiting with little ones, there's a playground that will likely be their first stop. It's equipped with a jungle gym, slides, and swings that tend to appeal most to children under 10.
What makes this playground stand out is its sand pit - and not just any sand, but sand from Vancouver's own Fazio Brothers Sand Company. Kids seem to have an absolute blast with the mechanical excavator toys in the sand pit, digging and building to their hearts' content.
Getting Active
For those who enjoy shooting some hoops, the park features a basketball court with a single hoop. And if basketball isn't your thing, don't worry - there are large open grassy areas ideal for frisbee, catch, or simply spreading out a blanket for a picnic.
Speaking of picnics, you'll find two picnic tables conveniently placed near the play area, plus several benches scattered around the park. There aren't any grills or covered picnic areas, but the open layout gives you plenty of options for setting up your outdoor meal.
Why Locals Love It
In an area filled with housing developments, Jack Z. Fazio Park offers a much-needed green space where neighbors can breathe a little easier. The park is well-kept and nestled in a quiet, safe neighborhood.
Parents particularly appreciate the open design that allows them to keep an eye on their children from almost anywhere in the park. And yes, your four-legged friends are welcome too - just remember that dogs need to stay on leash at all times.
