About Gateway Park in Montgomery
Gateway Park is a regional destination park located in the southwestern part of Montgomery, Alabama. Opened in 2006, the park sits on what was formerly a mosquito-infested bog fed by Cloverland Ditch. Today, it offers a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas for visitors to enjoy.
The park features a 9-hole executive golf course measuring over 3,000 yards from the back tees. The course provides a mix of challenging par 3 and par 4 holes with wide-open fairways and well-maintained greens. It is designed to be welcoming for new golfers while still offering a chance for more experienced players to work on their short game.
In addition to golf, Gateway Park contains baseball and softball fields, as well as football and soccer playing fields. A large lake within the park supports activities like water skiing and fishing. Multiple walking trails wind through the park, allowing visitors to explore the natural landscape.
For families, the park includes playgrounds for children. Picnic shelters are available throughout the grounds, providing spaces for gatherings and outdoor meals. The Gateway Lodge within the park can be rented for larger events and offers views of the surrounding park areas.
