About Greenfield Park in Mesa
Greenfield Park is a 20.7-acre community park located in Mesa, Arizona. The park features a 2.5-acre lake that serves as a focal point for various activities. This lake, with a maximum depth of 17 feet, is part of the Arizona Game and Fish Department's Community Fishing Program. It is regularly stocked with fish species including fathead minnows, bluegill, bass, and catfish, typically in the 2-4 inch size range.
The park underwent significant improvements, completed in April 2018, which included expanding the existing lake to increase irrigation capacity. As part of these renovations, a "first flush" drain structure was constructed to reduce dirty stormwater from entering the lake, enhancing its ecological health.
Greenfield Park offers a range of recreational facilities for visitors of all ages. The playground area spans 13,000 square feet and is shaded, providing a comfortable play environment even on hot days. For those interested in fitness, the park features exercise equipment stationed around the grounds.
Accessibility is a key feature of Greenfield Park, with an ADA-compliant fishing pier allowing people of all abilities to enjoy fishing activities. The park also includes several picnic areas, with both reservable and first-come, first-serve shaded ramadas, providing ample space for gatherings and outdoor meals.
The park is open from sunrise to 10 p.m., allowing visitors to enjoy its amenities throughout the day. It's worth noting that while fishing is encouraged, swimming and wading are prohibited in the lake. Additionally, the park has rules against bringing glass containers, littering, and bringing pets.
