About Desert Trails Park in Mesa
Desert Trails Park, located in Mesa, Arizona, is a unique 35-acre bike park designed for cycling enthusiasts of all skill levels. Opened in November 2014, this park offers a diverse range of biking experiences set against the backdrop of scenic desert landscapes.
The park features a series of hiking and biking trails, including a 3/4-mile perimeter trail for hiking and non-motorized bike use. For those seeking more challenging terrain, there are three progressive flow trails designed for downhill bike use: the Beginner Level (Green) Runaway Train Trail, the Intermediate Level (Blue) Squirrel Catcher Trail, and the Expert Level (Black) Double Trouble Trail.
At the heart of Desert Trails Park is a pump track and a kids' skills track, both designed to introduce and progressively develop new skills for BMX-style bike riding. The pump track, built by volunteers from the Gravity Riders Organization of Arizona (GROAZ), provides an excellent opportunity for riders to practice and improve their techniques.
The park is not only a haven for experienced riders but also welcomes younger children and beginners. A dedicated skills track offers a perfect environment for novice riders to get accustomed to the ups and downs of trail riding, featuring a variety of ramps and small hills.
Desert Trails Park is open from sunrise to sunset, closing during rain or when trails are muddy to preserve the integrity of the paths. The park's design emphasizes safety and skill development, making it an ideal location for riders to progress in their abilities while enjoying the natural beauty of the Arizona desert.
