About Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria
Rio Vista Community Park is a 52-acre recreational space located in Peoria, Arizona. Situated off Thunderbird Road, this expansive park offers a wide array of facilities and activities for visitors of all ages.
The park features multiple play structures catering to children of different age groups, with a combined total of seven slides. These play areas are well-shaded, providing comfort during hot days. For water-based recreation, the park includes a gated splash pad, open seasonally from April 15th to October 15th.
Rio Vista Community Park is home to an urban fishing lake spanning 2.5 acres. The lake is stocked with various fish species including trout, catfish, large bass, sunfish, and white amur. Small waterfalls along the lake's edge enhance its aesthetic appeal and attract local wildlife such as ducks.
For sports enthusiasts, the park offers several amenities. These include seven lighted softball fields, multi-purpose fields, lighted sand volleyball courts, and a skate park. The park also features 16 miles of walking and bicycle trails, including a large bridge that adds interest to the landscape.
The park includes numerous picnic areas, with over 13 different covered outdoor ramadas equipped with grills, making it an ideal location for social gatherings and events. Facilities such as restrooms and drinking fountains are conveniently located throughout the park.
A notable feature of Rio Vista Community Park is the Veterans Memorial Wall, which runs along the urban pond on the west side of the recreation center, honoring local veterans.
The Rio Vista Recreation Center, a 52,000 square foot facility within the park, offers additional indoor amenities and hosts various programs and activities for the community.
