Fishing is permitted in the lake, with a variety of fish species available including trout, catfish, bass, sunfish, and white amur. Fishing licenses are required for adults, and the lake is part of the Arizona Community Fishing Program.
For families with children, Pioneer Community Park provides extensive playground facilities. The park boasts three distinct play structures catering to different age groups: a smaller structure for younger children, a medium-sized structure, and a large tower for older children. The play areas are equipped with rubber and cement surfaces for safety.
A popular feature, especially during warmer months, is the splash pad. Open seasonally from April 15 to October 15, between 10 AM and 8 PM, it offers a refreshing recreational option for families. The splash pad includes various water features such as a large waterwheel, smaller buckets, spouts, and water guns.
For sports enthusiasts, the park offers six lighted ball fields suitable for baseball and softball, as well as four lighted multipurpose fields. These facilities make the park a prime location for organized sports activities and casual play alike.
