Rio Vista Natural Resources Park

Rio Vista Natural Resource Park is a unique 40-acre urban oasis located in midtown Tucson, Arizona. Situated along the Rillito River, this park serves as both a natural habitat and a recreational area for the community. The park's primary purpose is to protect and preserve the natural ecosystem while providing visitors with opportunities to connect with nature.

The park features a diverse landscape that includes open creosotebush flats, thick stands of small trees along ephemeral washes, and remnants of the original mesquite bosque. This variety of habitats supports a rich array of wildlife, with over 100 plant species (mostly native) and nearly 140 bird species recorded within the park boundaries. Rio Vista Natural Resource Park is divided into two distinct areas. Approximately one-quarter of the park contains built amenities, including a grassy area, playground, and restroom facilities. The remaining three-quarters of the park remain largely undeveloped, featuring informal walking trails that wind through the native vegetation.
