Lake Fayetteville Park is a 458-acre recreational area located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The park features a 194-acre lake that was originally constructed in 1948 as a source of drinking water for the local community. Since 1959, when the Beaver Water District was established to provide treated water from Beaver Lake, Lake Fayetteville has been primarily used for recreational purposes.
The park offers a variety of outdoor activities centered around the lake. A 5.5-mile nature trail encircles the lake, providing opportunities for hiking and wildlife observation. Additionally, there is a 4.3-mile paved multi-use trail that loops around the lake, catering to joggers, cyclists, and casual walkers.
Lake Fayetteville Park is divided into several components, including Veterans Memorial Park, a boat dock and marina, the Lake Fayetteville Softball Complex, and North Shore Park. The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks is also located on the eastern side of the lake, adding to the park's diverse attractions.
Fishing is a popular activity at Lake Fayetteville, with the lake being home to various fish species including largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and white bass. Anglers can fish from the bank, accessible fishing piers, or boats, though all boats must adhere to the lake's no-wake policy.
The park operates under specific regulations, requiring fishing and boating permits for Lake Fayetteville. These can be purchased at the Boat House/Lake Office prior to accessing the lake. The park is open from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week, except for a brief closure from December 24 to January 14 each year.
