About Pearson Park in Anaheim

Pearson Park, located in Anaheim, California, is a historic 19-acre public space that has been serving the community since 1927. Originally known as City Park, it was renamed in 1960 to honor former Anaheim Mayor Charles A. Pearson, who served from 1945 to 1959.

The park features a diverse array of attractions and facilities. At its heart lies the iconic Pearson Park Amphitheatre, built in 1933, which has become a beloved summer tradition for families in Southern California. The amphitheatre showcases Spanish-style architecture with terra-cotta roof tiles and can accommodate over 2,000 seated guests.

Pearson Park is home to several sports facilities, including lighted softball fields, tennis courts, and a football/soccer area. For water enthusiasts, there's a community swimming pool and a series of duck ponds connected by bridges along Sycamore Street.

Children can enjoy the centrally located playground, which offers various climbing activities and play structures. The park also features the Boysen Cactus Garden, a tribute to Rudolph "Rudy" Boysen, Anaheim's former Superintendent of City Parks and the creator of the boysenberry.

In May 2022, the park was further enhanced with the addition of the Kobe and Gianna Bryant "Dream Court," honoring the late basketball legend and his daughter.

Pearson Park's layout encourages exploration, with walking paths winding through its lush landscape of Mexican Fan Palms, Pygmy Date Palms, and colorful flora. The park's design and amenities make it a versatile space for various activities, from leisurely strolls and picnics to active sports and community events.
