About Wildwood Park in Chico
CARD Wildwood Park in Chico, California, serves as a gateway to the scenic Upper Bidwell Park. Established in 1995 and transferred to the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) in 2011, Wildwood Park has become one of the area's most popular destinations.
The park was recently renamed from Wildwood Park to Veterans Memorial Park on November 11, 2024, to honor Chico's veterans. This change followed a successful petition led by the Veterans of Chico and was unanimously approved by CARD's Board of Directors.
Veterans Memorial Park features a variety of recreational facilities catering to different age groups and interests. The park's layout is particularly suitable for families with children of various ages, offering good sight lines for parents to monitor their kids.
One of the unique features of the park is its pump track, which comes in two varieties: a beginner track and an intermediate-to-advanced track. This makes it an attractive destination for bike enthusiasts of different skill levels.
The park's location and amenities make it an ideal venue for veteran-related gatherings and celebrations, as well as general community events. Its accessibility, thanks to paved roads, ample parking, and public transportation options, was a key factor in its selection for renaming.
