Dunnell Nature Park and Education Center

Dunnell Nature Park and Education Center, also known as Dunnell Park, is a 6.2-acre nature park located on the corner of Hilborn Road and Hillridge Drive in the Rolling Hills subdivision of Fairfield, California. The park, which was left to the City of Fairfield in 1998 by the Dunnell family, was developed based on a comprehensive plan approved by the City Council in 2004.

The interactive nature park features a variety of natural environments and educational facilities. Visitors can explore woodlands, a grassland restoration area, and a seasonal creek that runs through the property. The park also includes a demonstration garden, which serves as an educational resource for conservation and local flora.

One of the unique features of Dunnell Nature Park is its role as a home for peacocks, continuing the legacy of the property's former name, "Peacock Ranch". The park incorporates conservation-themed bilingual interpretive displays throughout, enhancing the educational experience for visitors of diverse backgrounds.

For families and children, the park offers an adventure play area, providing opportunities for both recreation and nature-based learning. An overlook area allows visitors to appreciate panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Dunnell Nature Park is adjacent to 770 acres of City-owned and managed open space properties, further extending the natural environment available for exploration. The park's design and features aim to preserve the natural characteristics of the site while providing interactive and educational experiences for the community.
