About Dusterberry Neighborhood Park in Fremont

Dusterberry Neighborhood Park is a newly constructed 4-acre park located at the corner of Dusterberry Way and Peralta Boulevard in Fremont, California. The park, which officially opened on July 7, 2023, was developed on the site of a former car dealership, transforming an abandoned commercial space into a vibrant community asset.

The park features a variety of recreational facilities designed to cater to different age groups and interests. For school-aged children, there is a sophisticated climbing structure area with three large tube slides and a large climbing net pyramid. Younger children can enjoy a small nature play area with boulders and smaller slides. The park also includes a half basketball court, providing opportunities for sports enthusiasts.

Dusterberry Park incorporates 1,200 cubic yards of multi-use grass area, offering ample space for open play and relaxation. Walking paths meander through the park, allowing visitors to enjoy leisurely strolls or engage in light exercise. The park's design includes shaded areas, with canopy structures installed over seating areas to compensate for the lack of mature trees.

In recognition of its innovative design and community impact, Dusterberry Neighborhood Park was awarded the 2023 California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) Award of Excellence in the category of Excellence in Design - Park Planning. This award acknowledges the park's transformation from an abandoned car dealership to a community gem.

The park's development reflects a commitment to creating green spaces that enhance the quality of life for Fremont residents. While it does not include on-site parking or restroom facilities, which are typically found in larger community parks, Dusterberry Neighborhood Park offers a range of amenities that make it a valuable addition to the local area.
