About Los Olivos Community Park in Irvine
Los Olivos Community Park, located in Irvine, California, is a 12-acre public recreational space that opened in March 2019. The park is situated near the former site of the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, off Irvine Center Drive.
The park features a unique musical-themed playground, paying homage to the area's entertainment history. The playground includes a recycled rubber play surface decorated with music notes, rope climbers, and a soft black bridge for children to navigate. Two large disc swings reminiscent of tire swings are available, along with "band" areas featuring outdoor percussion instruments. The play equipment is designed to cater to both younger children (ages 2-5) and older kids (ages 5-12).
Los Olivos Community Park is equipped with various sports facilities, including lighted baseball and soccer fields, lighted basketball courts, and four tennis courts. The park also houses the Los Olivos Community Center, a multi-use facility offering a variety of classes and programs for the community. The center includes a multipurpose room, warming kitchen, and patio space available for rent.
For visitors' convenience, the park provides amenities such as restrooms, drinking fountains, and a dedicated parking lot. There are two large covered picnic areas with tables and outdoor grills, making it an ideal spot for gatherings and community events.
The park currently has limited shade for summertime play, and the sand/recycled rubber combination on the playground can sometimes be slippery. Parents of younger children may need to supervise attempts at the larger ladders and monkey bars.
