About Lily Park in Long Beach
Lilly Park is a small, tranquil green space located in east Long Beach, California, nestled within the El Dorado Estates neighborhood. Covering an area of 0.3 acres, this compact park serves as a pleasant recreation area for local residents and visitors alike.
The park's history dates back to the early 1960s when it was initially dedicated to the City of Long Beach as a greenbelt during the development of the El Dorado Park Estates housing tract. In 1988, local residents collaborated with Partners of Parks, a non-profit organization, to raise funds for park improvements. These funds were matched through the Department's Matching Funds Capital Improvement program, allowing for the installation of play equipment and benches.
Further enhancements came in 1991 when a playground was added through the matching funds program and a Partners of Parks grant. In 2005, as part of the Americans with Disabilities Act plan and with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, the playground equipment was replaced to ensure accessibility for all visitors.
Lilly Park provides a serene environment where visitors can relax and unwind amidst the suburban surroundings. Located on Lilly Avenue in the El Dorado Estates area, it offers a convenient outdoor space for recreation and leisure activities to nearby residents.
