Martin Luther King Jr. Park

It was originally dedicated in 1964 as the 19th Street Playground, but was renamed in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. following his assassination in 1968.

The park has undergone several expansions and improvements over the years. In 1969-1970, it grew from its initial 1.17 acres to 5.86 acres, adding various recreational facilities. A further expansion in the early 1980s brought the park to its current size of 8.9 acres. The park features both indoor and outdoor facilities, including a community center and a swimming pool.

One of the park's notable features is its mural titled "The Content of Their Characters," which aims to send a positive message to the community. The park offers various programs for residents, including after-school activities for children aged 5-12, free youth sports leagues, and extended hours during the summer months.
