About Nela Luken Park in Roseville
Nela Luken Park at Village Center is a 3.3-acre public space located in Roseville, California. The park, dedicated in 2019, was named in honor of Nela Luken, a former Senior Planner at the City of Roseville Planning Department.
This park offers a beautiful outdoor setting for picnicking, exploration, and family recreation along Pleasant Grove Boulevard. The park's design pays homage to Roseville's history as a railway hub, with walkways reminiscent of railroad tracks leading to a central plaza area.
A distinctive feature of Nela Luken Park is its unique water sculpture, which includes playground misting poles designed to resemble railroad ties. These misting poles provide a cost-effective cooling solution for visitors, especially during warmer months. The mist nozzles are strategically placed to ensure functionality even on windy days.
The park was built by Sierra Valley Crossing on behalf of the City of Roseville and features a large open turf area suitable for various activities. The layout includes meandering walkways through shade trees and benches placed to enjoy the views.
