About Warm Water Cove Park in San Francisco
Warm Water Cove Park is a small 1.85-acre public park located in the Central Waterfront area of San Francisco, where 24th Street meets the bay. The park offers picturesque views of the San Francisco Bay and sits in an industrial setting near Pier 80 and the Dogpatch neighborhood.
Formerly known as "Toxic Tire Beach" due to abandoned tires that once littered the shoreline, Warm Water Cove has undergone significant improvements in recent years. The park is now part of the Blue Greenway, a network of parks and open spaces spanning from Oracle Park south to Candlestick Point.
The park features a small walking trail, grassy areas, and several picnic tables where visitors can relax and enjoy the waterfront scenery. Native plant gardens have been established, replacing the graffiti-covered walls that once characterized the area. The transformation has made Warm Water Cove a more welcoming space for the community, though it retains some of its industrial character.
Warm Water Cove serves as a quiet retreat in the bustling city, offering opportunities for passive recreation such as walking, nature observation, and picnicking. Its location in the Dogpatch neighborhood makes it a unique spot where visitors can experience a blend of San Francisco's industrial past and its evolving waterfront.
