About East Hillsdale Park in San Mateo

East Hillsdale Park, also known as Hidden Park, is located in San Mateo, California. The park has been a fixture in the community for over two decades, with its last major play area upgrade completed approximately 20 years ago. At that time, a small play area for toddlers and an area with a spiral slide were added to the existing facilities.

The park is currently undergoing a redevelopment project as part of the San Mateo Parks and Recreation capital improvement plan. This project aims to reimagine and revitalize the park for the local community. The development process has included community input and feedback sessions to ensure the new design meets the needs and preferences of residents.

As of March 2023, topographical surveys and engineering studies have been carried out in preparation for construction drawings. The project is progressing through various stages of planning and permitting, with construction expected to begin by the end of 2024.

East Hillsdale Park features open lawn areas that, while not officially permitted for sports use, are sometimes used by local youth for informal sports practice. The park's design balances play areas with open spaces, providing a versatile recreational environment for the surrounding neighborhood.
