About Old Orchard Park in Santa Clarita
Old Orchard Park is a 5.4-acre neighborhood park located in Valencia, Santa Clarita, California. Originally developed in 1968 as part of the Valencia master plan, it is one of the city's oldest parks and has served as a beloved gathering place for families, students, and residents for decades.
The park is situated among picturesque paseos and neighborhoods, adjacent to Old Orchard Elementary School. It serves as a nexus connecting neighborhood paseos, the school, and the Lyons Avenue Corridor.
In 2024, the City of Santa Clarita began a significant renovation project for Old Orchard Park, aimed at modernizing its facilities and enhancing its offerings. The upgrades, expected to be completed by summer 2025, include new playground equipment with shade structures, an ADA-compliant restroom building, a pickleball court overlay on the existing basketball court, and a brand-new multisport court.
The park's design incorporates elements that support a rustic and civic character, consistent with other local developments. Features include mounded drainage areas, mature Sycamore trees, low slump stone barrier walls, boulders, native character plantings, decomposed granite, and engineered wood chips.
Old Orchard Park is divided into four distinct recreational areas: a social and cultural hub for intergenerational and senior activity near the restroom/community building, a playground with equipment for different age groups, an adventure-in-nature area that includes the picnic area, and an unstructured turf play area continuous with the school's turf play area.
