About McKinley Park in Stockton
McKinley Park is a significant municipal park located in Stockton, California. Spanning 22.3 acres, it holds the distinction of being the largest park in South Stockton. The park has a rich history, dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s when it was the site of the historic Stockton Municipal Baths, which included artesian mineral baths and heated pools.
In April 2024, McKinley Park closed for extensive renovations as part of a $15.63 million makeover project. The renovation, funded by various state grants and local measures, aims to revitalize this long-standing community asset. The project includes plans for a renovated swimming pool and pool house, new picnic shelters, ball fields, play areas, restroom facilities, basketball courts, futsal courts, and soccer fields.
The park's makeover also encompasses the addition of new trees, landscaping improvements, an updated irrigation system, path lighting, and parking lot modifications. These enhancements are designed to create a more vibrant and functional space for the community. The anticipated completion date for the renovations is set for late 2025.
McKinley Park has been an integral part of the Stockton community for generations, serving as a hub for recreation, sports, and community gatherings. The ongoing renovation project represents a significant investment in South Stockton, aiming to restore the park to its former status as a destination for both local residents and visitors.
