About Victory Park in Stockton

Victory Park is a 22.45-acre public park located in Stockton, California. Established in 1916 and originally named Benvenida Park, it was renamed Victory Park in 1919 to honor the Allied victory in World War I. The park is situated in a residential area on the western edge of the city, providing a serene green space for the local community.

At the heart of Victory Park stands the Haggin Museum, a prominent art and history museum housed in an early 19th-century brick building. The museum, which opened its doors on June 14, 1931, showcases an impressive collection of fine art, including works by Albert Bierstadt, and exhibits on local history.

The park features expansive lawns shaded by mature oak trees, creating an ideal environment for picnics, relaxation, and community gatherings. It has become a hub for various recreational activities and cultural events. During the summer months, Victory Park hosts a popular "Concerts in the Park" series, where visitors can enjoy free live music performances on Wednesday evenings.

Victory Park serves as a multi-purpose outdoor space, catering to diverse interests and age groups. Its facilities support both active recreation and passive enjoyment of nature, making it a versatile destination for Stockton residents and visitors alike.
