The park, which opened in May 2024, represents the culmination of a 30-year effort by community members and stakeholders to transform a former industrial site into a vibrant community asset.

The park's name originated from a touching story of local children who would write wishes on pieces of paper and place them in the branches of a large ficus tree that stood on the site before the park's development.
