Nome Park

Nome Park is a small urban park located at 1200 N. Nome St in Aurora, Colorado. Spanning 0.8 acres, this compact green space serves as a valuable community resource in the area. The park features a nature-inspired playground that incorporates logs and ropes to create unique play structures and obstacle courses. These play elements are designed to challenge children of various age groups, fostering confidence as they explore and adventure.

One of the park's notable features is its sand-filled rock area, which allows children to jump from log to boulder, providing a more natural play environment. The playground equipment includes a multi-seat spinner, a log seesaw, and a balance beam. Additionally, raised rubber-surfaced bumps add to the diverse play options available.

Nome Park also caters to fitness enthusiasts with its Fitness Zone, located a short walk from the main playground area. This zone offers a variety of equipment for adults to exercise while their children play. The park's layout includes sports facilities, featuring a large sports field and a basketball court, promoting active lifestyles for visitors of all ages.

In 2022, the park underwent renovations to enhance its offerings. These improvements included the addition of a multi-purpose plaza with a basketball court, a meditation labyrinth, chess tables, and a skate feature. It's worth noting that Nome Park has faced challenges in recent years. In November 2021, the park was the site of a shooting incident that affected six teenagers, prompting increased community attention and safety measures.
