Canterbury Park

Canterbury Park, located in Aurora, Colorado, is a 7.4-acre community park that underwent significant renovations in 2022. The park serves as both a recreational space and a stormwater detention basin for the surrounding neighborhood.

The playground at Canterbury Park features clubhouse-themed equipment designed for children of various age groups, including separate structures for ages 2-5 and 5-12. The play area now boasts improved accessibility with the addition of rubber surfacing and turf covering. A new soft surface walking path meanders through the park, providing a pleasant route for strolls and exercise.

One of the notable additions to the park is the "friendship swing," a disc-shaped swing capable of accommodating multiple children at once. The park also includes a spinning sphere that offers different ways to ride, adding an element of adventure to playtime.

For those seeking shade, the park provides large shade covers on the hillside and some mature trees nearby. New shade panels have been installed near picnic areas, offering comfortable spots for families and friends to gather. The renovations also included the conversion of over an acre of turf into a low water use native area, promoting water conservation.

Canterbury Park's improvements have made it more inviting to the community, with the project completing just in time for a grand opening in June 2022. The park has since become a popular destination for both children and adults in the Aurora area.
