About John Venezia Community Park in Colorado Springs
John Venezia Community Park is a 110-acre public park located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the intersection of Briargate Parkway and Union Boulevard. Opened in 2017, it is the first new community park built in Colorado Springs in over a decade.
The park features a ranch theme, with elements designed to resemble traditional homestead structures. Thirty acres of the park are developed for recreational use, while the remaining portions are kept in a natural state.
John Venezia Community Park offers a variety of facilities for visitors. One of its main attractions is "The Watering Hole," a spray ground with more than a dozen water features, which is connected to an award-winning universally accessible playground. The park also includes multiple sports fields, courts for various games, and picnic areas.
For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the park provides two miles of interior sidewalks and the Briargate trail along Briargate Parkway. There are also gravel walking loops in an area called "The Pastures".
The park was named after John Venezia, a former El Paso County Commissioner who contributed to the development of parks and trails in Colorado Springs.
