About Veterans Park in Denver
Veterans Park is a public green space located in Denver, Colorado. The park serves as a tribute to military veterans and provides a peaceful area for community members to gather and reflect. Situated near the Colorado State Capitol, Veterans Park is part of the larger Capitol Complex.
The centerpiece of Veterans Park is the Colorado Tribute to Veterans Monument, dedicated on November 10, 1990. This memorial commemorates veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf War. The monument features a sandstone tower symbolizing strength, with a beacon at the top representing lasting awareness and memory.
In 2021, the park saw the addition of the Colorado Fallen Heroes Memorial, which pays tribute to Colorado veterans who have fallen in service to the country. The park also includes the General Rose Monument, added in 2023, which honors U.S. Army Major General Maurice Rose, a Denver native who was one of the highest-ranking U.S. servicemen killed by enemy fire in World War II.
Veterans Park offers a mix of open green spaces and landscaped areas, providing a serene environment in the heart of Denver. The park's location near the State Capitol makes it a significant site for official ceremonies and remembrances related to veterans and military service.
