About Twin Silo Park in Fort Collins
Twin Silo Park is a 54-acre community park located in southeast Fort Collins, Colorado. Opened in November 2017, it is the seventh community park in the city and features a unique design that pays homage to the area's agricultural heritage.
The park's centerpiece and namesake are two 48-foot tall farm silos that were relocated from nearby Prospect and Timberline Roads. These silos have been repurposed into an innovative play structure, featuring a double-helix spiral stairway and the tallest slide in Fort Collins. The slide begins in one silo, completes two full spirals, and ends in the second silo.
Twin Silo Park offers a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas. The playground includes creative play structures designed to reflect the farming history of the region. There are paved recreational trails throughout the park for walking, running, and cycling. The park also incorporates community gardens and an orchard, allowing residents to engage in urban agriculture.
For sports enthusiasts, the park provides pickleball courts, baseball and soccer fields. A BMX track offers a unique feature for bicycle enthusiasts. Dog owners can enjoy a dedicated off-leash area for their pets.
The park's design emphasizes sustainability and community engagement. It includes natural areas with native plantings, and the layout is intended to create a sense of place that connects visitors to the agricultural roots of Fort Collins. Educational elements throughout the park inform visitors about local history and ecology.
Twin Silo Park has received recognition for its innovative design, winning awards from the Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association.
