Sunset Park

Sunset Park is a scenic 21-acre public park located in Lakewood, Colorado. Situated at 10500 W. 12th Ave., the park offers visitors a tranquil escape with panoramic views overlooking Lakewood Gulch.

The park features open grassy areas ideal for picnicking, relaxation, and informal recreational activities. Its elevated position provides an excellent vantage point for enjoying Colorado's renowned sunsets, making it a popular spot for evening gatherings and photography enthusiasts.

A highlight of Sunset Park is its playground, which caters to children of various ages. The city of Lakewood has recently undertaken efforts to improve the playground's accessibility and safety. Plans are in place to replace the existing safety surfacing with ADA-compliant engineered wood fiber play surfacing. Additionally, the access ramp to the play area is slated for replacement with a fully ADA-compliant version.

As part of ongoing maintenance and upgrades, the park is set to receive new spring toys to replace damaged ones, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for young visitors. These improvements are scheduled to begin in late fall and are expected to be completed by spring 2024, demonstrating the city's commitment to maintaining and enhancing its public spaces.
