About Eastlake Park in Thornton
Eastlake #3 Park & Nature Preserve is a scenic outdoor area located in Thornton, Colorado. The park features a 1.7 mile loop trail that circles a lake, offering visitors peaceful views of the water and surrounding natural landscape. The trail is mostly gravel and suitable for walking, jogging, and pushing strollers.
The park serves as a nature preserve, providing habitat for various wildlife species. Visitors can observe waterfowl and other birds that frequent the lake and surrounding wetlands. In particular, the park is known as a good spot for birdwatching, with species like ducks, geese, and shorebirds often present.
On the western side of the park, there are open meadows and a row of tall trees lining the lakeshore. The eastern portion of the park is more shaded and contains a wildlife viewing boardwalk and platform, allowing visitors to get a closer look at the natural surroundings. Near the northeast edge, a dirt path leads down to one of the few lakeshore access points, providing scenic views of the water with the Indian Peaks and Rocky Mountain National Park visible in the distance on clear days.
