About Squire's Park in Westminster
Squires Park is a 16.6-acre community park located in Westminster, Colorado. Established in 1985, the park has been a popular recreational spot for local residents for nearly four decades. The park is conveniently located next to Rocky Mountain Elementary School.
The park features a variety of recreational facilities catering to different age groups and interests. It boasts the largest reservable pavilion within the Westminster parks system, capable of accommodating over 200 people for events. This makes Squires Park a favored location for community gatherings and celebrations.
In 2025, Squires Park is set to undergo a significant renovation, with the city approving a nearly $3 million makeover. The planned improvements include a mountain-themed adventure playground, which will feature a zipline and expanded playground equipment that exceeds the 20% Americans with Disability Act accessibility requirements. The renovation will also introduce a small off-leash dog area, trail circulation improvements, and landscape upgrades focusing on drought-tolerant plantings and turf conversion for water conservation.
The park's design incorporates both active recreation areas and natural spaces. It includes open play areas, sports facilities, and a detention and natural area, providing a balance between structured activities and opportunities for nature appreciation. The proximity to the Skyland greenbelt offers additional access to open space, enhancing the park's connection to the broader natural environment.
