About Three Friends Park in Coral Springs
Three Friends Park is a 5-acre green space located in Coral Springs, Florida. The park was dedicated in 1991 to Terry McClelland, Greg Martin, and John Odem, three Coral Springs residents who tragically died together in a plane crash. These friends often spent their leisure time together, including watching sunsets with their families from the park's hilltop.
The park is notable for being one of the highest elevation points in Coral Springs. This artificial "hill" is said to have been created from landfill used to construct nearby canals and lakes. Given that Coral Springs has no natural elevation, the park offers a unique vantage point to view a significant portion of the city.
Three Friends Park is open daily from 8 a.m. until sunset, providing visitors with ample time to enjoy its natural setting. The park's design incorporates lush greenery and scenic trails, making it an ideal location for activities such as hiking, picnicking, and birdwatching. The serene atmosphere of the park offers a peaceful retreat for those looking to escape the bustle of city life.
While the park is relatively small compared to some other city parks, its elevated position and dedication to the memory of the three friends make it a meaningful space within the Coral Springs community.
