About McDonald Park in Hialeah

McDonald Park is a 17-acre recreational area located in northeast Hialeah, Florida, just off Ludlam Road and east of the Palmetto Parkway. The park features a large lake as its centerpiece, providing a scenic backdrop for various activities.

The park offers a range of facilities for visitors to enjoy. It includes 10 reservable pavilions, which are popular spots for hosting outdoor gatherings such as birthday parties and baby showers. For sports enthusiasts, the park provides lighted basketball courts, two lighted tennis courts, and lighted racquetball courts.

Families with children can take advantage of the playground area, offering a space for younger visitors to play and explore. The park also features a walking trail, allowing visitors to enjoy a stroll or jog around the grounds.

A unique feature of McDonald Park is its seasonal aquatic center, known as McDonald Water Park. Open from March to October, this facility includes attractions such as a wave pool, a lazy river that flows under scenic waterfalls, and a splash pad designed for younger children. The aquatic center also offers swim lessons and private party rentals.

McDonald Park is named after David H. McDonald, a U.S. Army Sergeant who was a resident of Hialeah before his deployment to Vietnam, where he was unfortunately killed in action in 1969. The park stands as a tribute to his service and sacrifice.
