Ken Mattingly Park

Ken Mattingly Park is an open green space strategically located within a residential area near Okeechobee Road in Hialeah, Florida. The park was originally named Deer Park but was later rededicated to honor Thomas Kenneth Mattingly II, a Naval Aviator and Rear Admiral in the United States Navy who attended school in the City of Hialeah.

Ken Mattingly, born on March 17, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, became an astronaut and flew as the Command Module Pilot for Apollo 16, making him one of very few individuals who have successfully flown to the Moon. This connection to space exploration adds a unique historical significance to the park bearing his name.

The park serves as a local recreational area for residents, providing a space for outdoor activities and relaxation.
