Brian Piccolo Sports Park & Velodrome is a 175.2-acre multi-use sports facility located in Cooper City, Florida. The park, which opened in 1989, has established itself as one of Broward County's primary centers for athletic activity. It is named after Brian Piccolo, a notable athlete from South Florida who played for the Chicago Bears.
The park's most unique feature is its velodrome, which is the only one in Florida and one of only three in the southeastern United States. The velodrome consists of a 333.3-meter long competitive track with a maximum 30-degree slope at each end, and a 200-meter long recreational track with a maximum 10-degree slope. This facility attracts over 3,500 athletes annually and is used for both competitive and recreational cycling.
In addition to the velodrome, Brian Piccolo Sports Park offers a wide range of other sports facilities. These include soccer fields, cricket fields, basketball courts, and a road course for cyclists and in-line speed skaters. The road course features both 500-meter and 800-meter loops and is open daily from 8 AM to dusk.
The park also hosts national and international events, making it a significant venue for various sports competitions. Its extensive facilities and year-round favorable climate make it an attractive destination for athletes and sports enthusiasts alike.
