About Alberts Field in Jacksonville
Alberts Field is a public park located in the Mandarin section of south Jacksonville, Florida, at the intersection of Brady and Orange Picker Roads. The park spans 11.1 acres of lush greenery and offers a variety of recreational facilities for visitors.
The majority of the property was donated by Bruno and Ann Alberts, who moved to Mandarin from Kentucky in 1935. The park opened around 1959 and was later expanded through additional donations and city purchases. Bruno Alberts (1888-1970) was a renowned stain glass artist, portrait painter, and orchid enthusiast, while his wife Ann (1896-1991) was an artist who enjoyed painting orchids and still life compositions.
For many years, Alberts Field has been home to the Mandarin Sports Association, which has partnered with the city to improve and maintain the facility. The park has been a popular venue for organized baseball and softball games, with approximately 900 children using the facilities in 2004.
Visitors to Alberts Field can enjoy various outdoor activities, including walking, running, and hiking along the picturesque trails. The park's temperate climate allows for year-round outdoor recreation, making it a favorite spot for fitness enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
Parking at Alberts Field is available in designated areas along Orange Picker and Brady Roads, behind the MSA Field House, in front of Baker Field, and in the property next to the Tennis Courts.
