About Bonnet Springs Park in Lakeland
Bonnet Springs Park is a 168-acre public park located in Lakeland, Florida. Opened in October 2022, the park was developed on the site of a former CSX rail yard, transforming the abandoned industrial land into a vibrant green space for the community.
The park features a diverse landscape with walking trails, botanical gardens, and a lagoon. A 1.7-mile paved loop called the Circulator connects various attractions throughout the park, allowing visitors to easily navigate the grounds. For those who prefer not to walk, a tram service is available with multiple stops along the loop.
At the heart of the park is the Hollis Family Welcome Center, which houses a coffee shop, gift shop, and the Watson Clinic Gallery showcasing local history. The park also includes the Florida Children's Museum, formerly known as Explorations V Children's Museum, offering interactive exhibits for young visitors.
Nature enthusiasts can explore the GiveWell Community Foundation Nature Center, which provides educational displays about Florida's wildlife. The nearby Ann & Ward Edwards Boathouse offers views of the Blanton Family Lagoon and opportunities for water activities.
For recreation, the park includes multiple playgrounds catering to different age groups. The Crenshaw Canopy Walk provides an elevated boardwalk experience through the tree canopy, offering unique perspectives of the park's landscape.
Bonnet Springs Park also serves as an event venue, featuring spaces like the Citizens Bank & Trust Ballroom and the George W. Jenkins Outdoor Kitchen. These facilities can accommodate various gatherings, from weddings to corporate events.
The park is open 365 days a year, from early morning until dusk, with no admission fee. It aims to provide a blend of natural beauty, educational opportunities, and recreational activities for residents and visitors to Lakeland.
