Gwen Cherry Park is a 38-acre public park located in Miami, Florida. Named after Gwendolyn Sawyer Cherry, the first African-American woman elected to the Florida Legislature, the park serves as a vital community hub offering a wide range of recreational facilities and programs.
The park is home to the NFL Youth Education Town (YET) Center, a 27,000 square-foot facility built with support from the NFL Charities and local organizations. This center includes computer rooms, a library, arts and crafts areas, a game room, and a 9,000 square-foot air-conditioned gymnasium. The NFL YET Center provides various educational and recreational programs for local youth.
Gwen Cherry Park features multiple sports facilities, including lighted athletic fields for football, baseball, and softball. It also has a 400-meter running track, basketball courts, and tennis courts. The park caters to diverse age groups with its playground, tot lot, and fitness zones for adults.
For aquatic activities, the park offers a community pool and splash playgrounds, which are open seasonally. These facilities provide opportunities for recreational swimming and host the Red Cross Learn to Swim Program, offering affordable swimming lessons for all ages.
The park also includes an amphitheater for performances and community events, picnic areas for family gatherings, and walking paths throughout the grounds.
