About Allison Park in Miami
Allison Park is a well-maintained beachfront green space located in the North Beach area of Miami Beach, Florida. This 1.1-acre park offers visitors a serene escape within the bustling city environment.
The park features an Eco-Walk that educates patrons on the coastal ecosystem and sea turtle activity in Miami Beach. Along the walk, visitors can find exhibits addressing conservation and protection of sea turtles, including replicas of life-size sea turtles. The park's design incorporates native vegetation along the dunes to help block artificial lighting that could negatively impact turtle nesting routines and hatchling survival.
Allison Park marks the beginning of the beachwalk, which extends over a mile north, ending at the North Shore Open Space Park. The beach adjacent to the park is known for its fine white sand and clear blue-green water, offering a picturesque setting for beachgoers.
The park is open from sunrise to sundown daily and is free to enter, though there is a fee for the metered public parking lot. Accessibility features have been incorporated into the park's design, including ADA-compliant playground components and picnic areas.
Recent improvements to the park include the installation of turtle-sensitive lighting and plans for additional accessible features, such as adaptive picnic tables, beach chairs, and water sports equipment designed for people with disabilities.
