About Z.L. Riley Park in Orlando
Z.L. Riley Park is a small urban park located in the heart of Parramore, a historic neighborhood in Orlando, Florida. The park covers approximately half an acre and was named in honor of Zellie L. Riley, a significant Parramore businessman who founded the Negro Chamber of Commerce (now known as the African-American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida) in the 1950s.
The park features mosaic artwork that reflects Z.L. Riley's contributions to the community and incorporates African themes. These mosaics were created by youth from the Parramore Kidz Zone, adding a unique cultural touch to the park.
Z.L. Riley Park offers a colorful playground for children, providing a safe and enjoyable space for young visitors. Families can relax in the open green spaces or use the provided grills for picnics. The park's design includes wide sidewalks and a large pavilion that can be used as a stage, making it suitable for hosting special events.
The park is located on South Parramore Avenue in close proximity to downtown Orlando, making it easily accessible to both local residents and visitors. While parking is limited to side streets, the park's central location allows it to serve as a community gathering space.
