Spink-Collins Park is a hidden gem located on the westside of Atlanta, Georgia. This 21.49-acre wooded park offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. Situated at the end of Collins Drive, the park provides a serene environment for visitors to enjoy nature and outdoor activities.
The park features a network of wooded trails that wind through the forest, offering hikers and nature enthusiasts a chance to explore the local flora and fauna. These trails, while somewhat challenging in areas, provide an excellent opportunity for exercise and quiet contemplation. Along the paths, visitors can discover the ruins of old stone buildings, complete with benches for resting and enjoying the surroundings.
One of the park's main attractions is its shaded playground, designed for children ages 2-12. The playground includes multiple slides, spring riders, swings, and climbing structures, all set on a wood chip surface. The area is heavily shaded by surrounding trees, making it comfortable for children to play even on warm days.
For fitness enthusiasts, Spink-Collins Park offers a unique outdoor workout experience. The park features five fully shaded workout stations along a 0.25-mile fitness trail in the woods. This trail begins to the left of the playground, near a picnic table, providing an excellent opportunity for a full-body workout in a natural setting.
Picnic areas are available for those looking to enjoy a meal outdoors. The park has two designated picnic spots: one near the playground and another just after the park entrance. Each area is equipped with a picnic table and grill, perfect for family gatherings or a peaceful lunch in nature.
It's worth noting that Spink-Collins Park does not have designated parking, bathrooms, or water fountains. Visitors typically rely on neighborhood street parking, with the park entrance located at the dead-end of Collins Drive.
