About Tanyard Creek Park in Atlanta
Tanyard Creek Park is a 14.5-acre green space located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia. Situated along Tanyard Creek, the park stretches from Collier Road on the north to the BeltLine rail corridor on the south. It is bordered by the Collier Hills neighborhood to the west and Collier Hills North to the east.
A notable feature of Tanyard Creek Park is the 1-mile long BeltLine trail that runs through it. This paved trail, part of the Northside Trail, begins at the west end of the Colonial Homes neighborhood and proceeds west along the south end of Bobby Jones Golf Course and Louise G. Howard Park. It then passes under Collier Road and through Tanyard Creek Park, continuing under a trestle bridge (an active CSX rail line) before connecting to Ardmore Park and the Tanyard Creek Urban Forest.
The park played a role in Civil War history, as the Battle of Peachtree Creek took place in and around its grounds. Today, it serves as a tranquil urban retreat, offering a mix of forested areas and open spaces for visitors to enjoy.
Tanyard Creek Park provides recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors alike. Its location along the BeltLine makes it a popular spot for walking, jogging, and cycling. The park's natural setting, complete with the creek and surrounding greenery, offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city environment.
