About Tall Grass Greenway in Naperville
The Tall Grass Greenway is a linear park and trail system located in Naperville, Illinois. Stretching for 4.04 miles, the greenway runs from Vermont Cemetery Preserve in the west to Naperville-Plainfield Road in the east. The trail is jointly owned and managed by the Forest Preserve District of Will County and the Naperville Park District, with the Forest Preserve District overseeing 1.07 miles of the total length.
The park's namesake trail, the Tall Grass Greenway Trail, is a flat, paved path that traverses through open prairie landscapes and adjacent residential areas. It provides a convenient route for various recreational activities and serves as a green corridor within the suburban environment. The trail runs along the right-of-way for ComEd powerlines, offering users an unobstructed path.
At its western terminus, the Tall Grass Greenway connects to the Normantown Trail at Vermont Cemetery Preserve, extending the recreational opportunities for trail users. On the eastern end, it links to the DuPage River Trail via a paved path that extends north along Naperville-Plainfield Road and then east and south along 95th Street.
The greenway passes through Frontier Park, which serves as a recreational hotspot for both local residents and visitors from surrounding communities. Throughout its length, the trail features several at-grade road crossings, and there is a pedestrian overpass across State Route 59, enhancing safety for users.
Access to the Tall Grass Greenway is available at multiple points. Notable entry locations include a parking lot at Vermont Cemetery Preserve, which offers vault toilets and water facilities. Additional parking can be found behind Neuqua Valley High School and at Frontier Park, which provides a range of amenities.
