Alice Carter Park

Alice Carter Place is a small urban park located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Established in 1922, this 1.36-acre triangular piece of land sits at the intersection of Meridian Street and Westfield Boulevard in Washington Township.

The park serves as a green oasis in a densely populated residential area, offering a visual respite for the more than 26,000 drivers who pass by it daily. Its location adjacent to the Canal Towpath Greenway Trail also makes it an ideal trailhead for users of this recreational path.

One of the most significant features of Alice Carter Place is a small brick building that serves as a Department of Public Works sanitary lift station. The park has undergone several improvements over the years, guided by a master plan developed in 2005. This plan aimed to enhance the park's role as a symbolic gateway to the North Meridian Street Historic District and improve its function as a neighborhood green space.

Recent efforts by local community groups, including the Meridian Street Foundation, have focused on further enhancing the park's amenities. Plans have been in development for adding new features to make the space more engaging for visitors of all ages.
