McCarty Triangle Park

McCarty Triangle Park is a compact, triangular-shaped community park spanning 1.4 acres in the West Indianapolis neighborhood. This park has been a longstanding recreational space for the local community. Historically, the park featured a playground, a half-sized basketball court, a swing set, and a large greenspace bordered by mature trees, offering a modest but inviting environment for leisure and play.

The park has been undergoing a significant redevelopment process since 2023, as part of a citywide initiative funded by the American Rescue Plan. These renovations aim to revitalize McCarty Triangle Park with modern amenities, including a new playground with synthetic turf, a full-sized basketball court, a covered picnic shelter, newly paved pathways, and additional landscaping with trees. However, as of late 2024, the construction has faced delays due to permitting issues and other site complications, leaving the area mostly fenced off and under construction.

McCarty Triangle Park is situated in a neighborhood with a high density of families, making its facilities critical for providing a safe and accessible space for children and adults to engage in outdoor activities. Residents have expressed anticipation for the completion of the updates, highlighting the park's potential to bring the community together for recreation and relaxation. Once reopened, the new features will enhance its appeal and usability, addressing the needs of diverse community members, including children and those with special requirements.
