Morgan Creek County Park

Morgan Creek Park is a 352-acre natural area located just west of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The park offers a diverse landscape featuring steep wooded hills, gently rolling terrain, and the stream valley of Morgan Creek, providing habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The park has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years, with major improvements completed in 2022 on the south side. A new day-use entrance was established on E Ave NW, Cedar Rapids, as part of this redevelopment project. The park now boasts an extensive trail system with over four miles of paths, allowing visitors to explore various corners of the park throughout the year.

Morgan Creek Park is known for its seasonal beauty, offering visitors the chance to enjoy bluebells in spring, summer prairie flowers, fall colors in the arboretum, and cross-country skiing in winter. The park's arboretum, located on the north side on Worcester Road, Palo, features over 250 species of native and exotic trees and shrubs, including a butterfly garden.

For camping enthusiasts, the park offers a modern campground on the north side on Worcester Road, Palo. The campground provides sites with electricity and water, as well as a dump station. There is also a "pack-in" group campground available for reservation, accommodating up to 15 tents or 45 people.

Morgan Creek Park operates on a carry-in, carry-out basis for waste management, encouraging visitors to take responsibility for their refuse. The park is open year-round, with camping generally available from April 15 to October 15, weather permitting.
