One of the park's notable features is its splash pad, which operates from May 25 through September 3, 2024. The water features are activated by sensors or buttons, providing a refreshing play area for children during warm weather. The splash pad's hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

Hayes Park is also included in the city's Rollin' Recmobile program, which brings recreational activities to neighborhood parks during the summer months. As part of this program, the park hosts free lunch stops and organized activities on Mondays from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM during the summer season.

The park includes standard recreational facilities such as a playground and a baseball diamond, offering opportunities for both structured and unstructured play. Picnic tables are available, making it a suitable location for family outings and community gatherings.
